BUCHANAN COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS SEPTEMBER MEETING
The Buchanan County Board of Supervisors on Monday approved a $669,453.84 budget proposal from EagleView for three flyovers using 3-inch definition for the entire county within the next six years.
EagleView is a leading provider of high-resolution aerial imagery, computer vision, and geospatial data analytics.
Their 3-inch Ground Sample Distance (GSD) resolution imagery provides incredibly sharp aerial photography where each pixel represents a 3-inch square on the ground.
When deploying three distinct flyovers using this 3-inch definition standard, organizations (typically county GIS departments or property tax appraisers) gain a highly precise temporal data set.
Supervisors also approved an additional appropriation in the amount of $109,028 for funding received from the State of Virginia Fire Fund to be divided equally among the volunteer fire departments that are located in the county with the exception of Jewell Ridge Volunteer Fire Department.
Buchanan County Public Schools was the recipient of an additional $811,151 appropriation from the Virginia Department of Education, after the approval of the state budget.
In other action, supervisors approved 15 coyote claims at $100 per claim to Eddie Fletcher (4 claims); and Henry Deel, Billy Souleyrette, Cody Johnson, Tanner Hartford, Mark Stacy, Ethan Phipps, Donald Meadows, Michael Sparks, Jimmy Clevinger, Anthony Viers and Earnest Owens (one claim each).
Moved Ryan Cook from a part-time helper to a full-time helper at the Buchanan County Sanitation Department.
Ratified the following part-time employees: Roger Edwards, North Grundy; Dominick Hurley, Knox; James Justus, Knox; and Thomas McCoy, IDA.
