I could tell there was a hint of autumn in the air when my son’s football smashed me in the face.
Next Tuesday is the beginning of Autumn. In my opinion, there are two times of year: Autumn, and waiting for Autumn.
With the cooler temperatures, and our hills soon to be ablaze in magnificent color, for many of us it’s the best season of the year.
A couple goes to an art gallery. They find a picture of a naked women with only her privates covered with leaves. The wife doesn’t like it and moves on but the husband keeps looking. The wife asks: “What are you waiting for?” The husband replies: “Autumn.”
There were four henchmen: Winter, Summer, Spring and Autumn. The boss stood before them. “Winter,” he began, “I need you to stay cool in the face of pressure. Ice in your veins,” he added, patting his shoulder. “Then there’s you, Summer,” he continued. “If the heat becomes too much for Winter, use that hot temper of yours to make sure the cops remember who they’re working for. “As for you, Spring,” he chuckled, “this operation is gonna bring in a lot of ‘green.’ Make sure that it keeps growing.” He turned for the door as Autumn stood up. “Boss!” he sputtered. “What about me?” The boss turned back, shaking his head. “Sorry, son. You’re just the Fall guy.”
I got tired of looking at all those leaves in my yard, so I got up off the couch and went into action. I closed the curtains.
