Donna Whittington Culbertson resigned her Southwestern District school board seat at the conclusion of Monday evening’s meeting.
The resignation was immediate.
“I’ve served 11 years and it is time to step away,” Culbertson said.
She said that she had married in January and they have been splitting their time between the east and west coast.
“We want to travel,” she said. “It has been a pleasure serving the school system and I have worked on many wonderful boards. It hasn’t always been easy but we’ve always done what was best for the students.”
The school board said they will take applications for her replacement from Northwestern District residents.
